Mission is a passion of First Presbyterian Church of Rockwall. As you explore our church, we think you will see signs of service everywhere. You can see it in our roots, including our role in the founding of Helping Hands. You can see the importance we place on service in our current and upcoming activities (see our newsletter and our social media links), as we continue to look for ways to share God’s love and improve our local and global community.
Our mission activities include opportunities for every age and a wide range of skills and interests. You will find they all share at least one thing in common: They all provide an opportunity to Feel God's Love and Be God's Love.
In Our Community and In God's World
First Presbyterian Church is an active presence in Rockwall, the greater DFW metroplex and beyond. Our members seek to live out their faith by helping those in need through the generous giving of both time and financial resources. Below is list of ministries FPC Rockwall is involved with. If you are interested in learning more or becoming involved, contact the church office (firstname.lastname@example.org) to be put in touch with the FPC Rockwall member leading the effort.
In addition to the programs listed below, there is so much more, including:
One Man’s Treasure, Meals on Wheels, Boys and Girls Club of Northeast Texas, Throw-Away Ponies, In-Sync Animal Rescue, Patriot Paws, and the Grace Presbytery Israel-Palestine Mission Network.
There are always new and creative ways for you to Be God's Love through First Presbyterian Church of Rockwall!
The Helping Hands Food Pantry was started by a former pastor of this church in 1976. Today, Rockwall Helping Hands continues to serve Rockwall County residents in crisis. FPC members volunteer in the food pantry weekly. A Helping Hands offering is collected the third Sunday of each month, and the funds from this collection go toward supplying a monthly $500 gift card to the Food Pantry, the annual School Supply Drive, local Disaster Relief, and other programs as the need arises.
Each summer, our youth group spends a week of working, learning, and seeing the ways God is at work in the world. Recent mission trips have ranged from rebuilding in the wake of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, to working with the homeless and underprivileged youth in Dallas, TX, to serving at the Ferncliff Disaster Assistance Center in Little Rock, Arkansas, while learning about global relief efforts through Heifer International.
PRESBYTERIAN CHILDREN'S HOMES AND SERVICES
PCHAS is a faith-based organization that provides a variety of residential and community-based programs to empower and support foster care families in Texas, Missouri, and Louisiana. FPC Rockwall cares for PCHAS through prayer, volunteer projects, and financial contributions.
THE STEWPOT & SECOND CHANCE CAFÉ AT THE BRIDGE
The Stewpot is a Presbyterian ministry in downtown Dallas that offers a wide range of social services to the homeless, as well as at-risk youth. The second Friday of each month, FPC volunteers serve breakfast at The Bridge from 7:30-8:30am. FPC members participate in various clothing drives and volunteer at other Stewpot sponsored events throughout the year.
If you are a woman and you come to FPC, you are invited to participate in this active group that reaches out to serve in so many ways. Whether you are looking to care for members of the congregation with meals and rides, or reach out to work with local and global ministries, the PW has a service option for you.
PAN AMERICAN SCHOOL
Presbyterian Pan American School is a Christian college preparatory school that educates and empowers young adults for leadership in the global community. Its students come from around the world – many from global hot spots. Members love hosting their choir and learning more about these amazing young men and women, who we support through various offerings.
SERVING OUR NEIGHBORS (SON) CAMP
Each summer, FPC conducts a week-long summer mission experience for children in Kindergarten through 6th grade. Participants learn the value of mission by going out into the community and performing service work such as assisting with Meals on Wheels, leading activities at retirement communities, working at animal rescue organizations and much more.
PRESBYTERIAN DISASTER ASSISTANCE
The consequences of natural disasters tug at the heart strings of everyone but knowing the best way to help can be difficult. Our church collects relief money to support the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance program, which specializes in the long-term recovery of communities affected by crises such as flooding, earthquakes, tornadoes and more. By supporting the experts in this program, we can be sure our donations are directed to the greatest needs and used in the most efficient manner.
FPC Rockwall also participates in the following PCUSA mission offerings through the Presbyterian Mission Agency:
One Great Hour of Sharing
Pentecost Sunday Offering
Christmas Joy Offering
