LET'S
SERVE

Mission is a passion of First Presbyterian Church of Rockwall. As you explore our church, we think you will see signs of service everywhere.  You can see it in our roots, including our role in the founding of Helping Hands. You can see the importance we place on service in our current and upcoming activities (see our newsletter and our social media links), as we continue to look for ways to share God’s love and improve our local and global community.

Our mission activities include opportunities for every age and a wide range of skills and interests. You will find they all share at least one thing in common:  They all provide an opportunity to Feel God's Love and Be God's Love.

In addition to the programs listed below, there is so much more, including:

One Man’s Treasure, Meals on Wheels, Boys and Girls Club of Northeast Texas, Throw-Away Ponies, In-Sync Animal Rescue, Patriot Paws, and the Grace Presbytery Israel-Palestine Mission Network.

HELPING HANDS

The Helping Hands Food Pantry was started by a former pastor of this church in 1976. Today, Rockwall Helping Hands continues to serve Rockwall County residents in crisis. FPC members volunteer in the food pantry weekly. A Helping Hands offering is collected the third Sunday of each month, and the funds from this collection go toward supplying a monthly $500 gift card to the Food Pantry, the annual School Supply Drive, local Disaster Relief, and other programs as the need arises.

YOUTH

MISSION

Each summer, our youth group spends a week of working, learning, and seeing the ways God is at work in the world. Recent mission trips have ranged from rebuilding in the wake of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, to working with the homeless and underprivileged youth in Dallas, TX, to serving at the Ferncliff Disaster Assistance Center in Little Rock, Arkansas, while learning about global relief efforts through Heifer International.

CLOTHES CLOSET   MISSION

Our church's Mission Committee, part of the BE THE LOVE Committee, recently launched a Clothes Closet.  The initial purpose of this mission will be simply to collect ONLY adult sized clothing.  This mission currently serves three local agencies.  Church volunteers sort and deliver donations.

SERVING OUR NEIGHBORS (SON) CAMP

Each summer, FPC conducts a week-long summer mission experience for children in Kindergarten through 6th grade.  Participants learn the value of mission by going into the community to perform service work such as assisting with Meals on Wheels, leading activities at retirement communities, working at animal rescue organizations and more.

PRESBYTERIAN DISASTER ASSISTANCE

https://pda.pcusa.org

The consequences of natural disasters tug at the heart strings of everyone but knowing the best way to help can be difficult. Our church collects relief money to support the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance program, which specializes in the long-term recovery of communities affected by crises such as flooding, earthquakes, tornadoes and more. By supporting the experts in this program, we can be sure our donations are directed to the greatest needs and used in the most efficient manner.
