Programs for Children
At First Presbyterian, we take our commitment to nurturing children in the life of faith seriously. In fact, at baptism, we make vows as a congregation to guide and nurture the newest members of the body of Christ. All staff and all volunteers who work with children and youth are required to comply with our Child Protection Policy, which includes a nationwide criminal background check.
Children’s programming includes:
Nursery care for children preschool age and younger.
Families of Faith for children ages K – 5th grade, their parents and grandparents is held the second Sunday of each month. It begins with a light lunch and then teacher led break-out groups for children K – 5th grades and parents/grandparents.
Godly Play, a children’s worship experience for kindergarten through third grade students on the second and fourth Sunday of each month during the worship hour. Children come to worship with their families, and leave after the Time for Young Disciples (a children’s sermon time) to learn about God through age-appropriate storytelling and activities.
Summer S.O.N. Camp (Serving Our Neighbors): A week of Bible stories and engaging mission work throughout our community designed to help even our younger children understand that we are called by Christ to love our neighbors as ourselves. Activities have included work at local animal shelters and rescues, delivering Meals on Wheels, singing at retirement communities and more. Each camp ending with a fun activity such as a pool party or bowling on Friday.
