Programs for Children

At First Presbyterian, we take our commitment to nurturing children in the life of faith seriously.   In fact, at baptism, we make vows as a congregation to guide and nurture the newest members of the body of Christ.  All staff and all volunteers who work with children and youth are required to comply with our Child Protection Policy, which includes a nationwide criminal background check.

Children’s programming includes:

  • Nursery care for children preschool age and younger.

  • Godly Play, a children’s worship experience for elementary-aged students on the second and fourth Sunday of each month during the worship hour.  Children come to worship with their families, and leave after the Time for Young Disciples (a children’s sermon time) to learn about God through age-appropriate storytelling and activities.

  • Children of God for elementary-aged students meets during worship on the first and third Sundays each month. Children come to worship with their families and leave after the Time for Young Disciples to learn important things about the Bible and being a Christian, such as the Ten Commandments, The Lord’s Prayer, books of the Bible, forgiveness and more.

  • Annual children’s Christmas pageant during Advent

  • Summer S.O.N. Camp (Serving Our Neighbors):  A week of Bible stories and engaging mission work throughout our community designed to help even our younger children understand that we are called by Christ to love our neighbors as ourselves.  Activities have included work at local animal shelters and rescues, delivering Meals on Wheels, singing at retirement communities and more.  Each camp ending with a fun activity such as a pool party or bowling on Friday.
