FPC Rockwall’s Vision for Racial Justice
The people of First Presbyterian Church have engaged in learning and action over the course of 2020 and 2021 in the area of racial justice. Building from a theology of love -- that God is love and we are called to love all people as children of God -- we have developed the following vision statement for the work that lies before us:
To fulfill First Presbyterian Church of Rockwall’s mission to “Feel God’s Love” and “Be God’s Love,” our congregation is committed to confronting racial inequality and discrimination in our community. We will endeavor to identify systemic racial inequality and the nature of discrimination in our midst. We will use our voices to raise awareness of the sin of racial injustice that divides the community and harms all. Prayerfully and with all our strength, we will strive to effect real changes to end specific instances of racial inequality and discrimination. Our vision is to actively heal our community, bringing people together as sisters and brothers who share equally in the love of God.
WELCOME TO FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF ROCKWALL
Welcome to First Presbyterian Church of Rockwall, a lively community of faith that loves lavishly. It is who we are. It is why we are here. No matter who you are – no matter your age, no matter your race, no matter your sexual orientation or identity, no matter your faith background (or lack thereof) – we say, “Come on in! Welcome home!”
People who come to us do, indeed, feel the love of God in Christ. But that’s not all. We also offer many opportunities for you to BE God's love – to embody the love of God in action, reaching out to those inside and outside of our church walls. Please make yourself at home exploring our website. We hope to be able to welcome you in person some day soon!
YOU ARE WELCOME HERE
Our church is a growing congregation and many of us remember the experiences of visiting a church for the first time.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Presbyterians believe that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior. That is the single theological statement made at the time of baptism into the church.
